Stormwater Discharges Associated with Industrial Activity from Marinas OHRM00001

2. When and How to Sample. Take a minimum of one grab sample from the discharge associated with industrial activity resulting from a storm event with at least 0.1 inch of precipitation (defined as “measurable” event), providing the interval from the preceding measurable storm is at least 72 hours. The 72-hour storm interval is waived when the preceding measurable storm did not yield a measurable discharge, or if you are able to document that less than a 72-hour interval is representative for local events during the sampling period. Take the grab sample during the first 30 minutes of the discharge. If it is not practicable to take the sampling during the first 30 minutes, sample during the first hour of discharge and describe why a grab sample during the first 30 minutes was impracticable.

Magnitude: at least 0.1 inch

Interval Between Storms: at least 72 hours

Ohio Industrial Storm Water General Permit OHR000005 - effective January 1, 2012 through December 31, 2016

6.1.3 Measurable Storm Events.

All required monitoring shall be performed on a storm event that results in an actual discharge from your site (Ňmeasurable storm eventÓ) that follows the preceding measurable storm event by at least 72 hours (3 days). The 72-hour (3-day) storm interval does not apply if you are able to document that less than a 72-hour (3-day) interval is representative for local storm events during the sampling period. In the case of snowmelt, the monitoring shall be performed at a time when a measurable discharge occurs at your site.

For each monitoring event, except snowmelt monitoring, you shall identify the date and duration (in hours) of the rainfall event, rainfall total (in inches) for that rainfall event, and time (in days) since the previous measurable storm event. For snowmelt monitoring, you shall identify the date of the sampling event.

Magnitude: results in actual discharge

Interval Between Storms: at least 72 hours
